  • Rabies vaccination requirement
Rule: MGL c.140 s.145B: each owner or keeper of a dog, cat or ferret 6 months of age or older shall have it vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian and revaccinated at intervals recommended by the vaccine manufacturer; unvaccinated animals acquired or moved into the commonwealth must be vaccinated within 30 days after acquisition/arrival or on reaching 6 months, whichever is later. The veterinarian issues a certificate and a tag; dogs wear the tag on a collar or harness (cat/ferret owners may keep the tag available for inspection instead).
